Who is a Child?

A child is a person male or female from 0 -18 years of age in accordance to the Ugandan constitution. It’s believed that at this stage, the child is supposed to be under the guidance and care of his/her parents, caretakers, guardian, and sometimes government. In Uganda though this is what the law states, parents mainly fathers of these children do not adhere to these laws because of negligence, family break ups, irresponsibility, and some end up attaching it to poverty.

Our Mandate

We protect children from domestic violence, by engaging local leaders into strengthening child rights and policies

According to the law, a person of 18 years and below is not supposed to give birth, get married or marry, is prohibited from engaging in sexual acts / relations and others.

ACHIPA focuses on advocating for children rights as mainly defined by the Uganda government and United Nations Confession on Rights of Children (UNCRC).

In the fight against child sexual abuse in Uganda, ACHIPA and Saprea are working together to end this vice in the country.

Children Rights are Categorized Into: Survival Rights, Protection Rights, Developmental Rights and Participation Rights

Right to education,
Right to medical care,
Right to fair hearing,
Right to parental care,
Right of expression,
Right to shelter,
Right to food,
Right to clothing,
Right to be loved,
Right to participate,

Right to immunization,
Right to leisure and recreation,
Right to practice positive and developmental religion,
Right to belong to a positive family,
Right to socialize (to mix up with others of the same age),
Right to association (only to close people),

Right to life – (mother killing a child – abortion – dumping – killings etc,) all these violets this right.
Right to have a name (positive and rewarding),
Right to parents (a child must know the parents he/she belongs to),
Right to nationality (culture, tribe, language),
Right to positive cultural practices.
